In 2019 the UIF will begin recording cash transactions of sums over a set threshold. The data will be used to improve STR analyses and to start specific studies on potentially irregular financial flows.
The related Measure was issued by the UIF on March 28th 2019. The communications will concern cash transactions for an amount equal to or above €10,000 per month, including more than one operation where individual ones account for an amount equal to or above €1,000. The communications must be sent to the UIF on a monthly basis by banks, Poste Italiane Spa, payment institutions and E-money institutions (EU branches and subsidiaries included).
